My husband and I always thought that we did a great job saving money. We do but I didn't realize how much more we could be saving until just recently. One day I was hanging out around the house and decided to google tips on how to save money. I discovered that we do a lot of the things that people suggest but there was one that we had not even touched on, COUPONING. Now don't get me wrong I have been cutting out coupons for 2 years now but I was just cutting them out and using them when the coupon was for something we needed. I would watch sales also but not as much as I could have been.
During my search I came across some awesome websites that feature moms who post about saving money. I now follow 15 blogs daily but here are the top 4 that I follow
Since I have started following these blogs I have saved tons of money. The best thing about these websites are they post CVS and Walgreens sales before the ads are even out and let you know if there is a coupon out for the sale items. Every Saturday night after the kids are in bed I check out all of the websites and make a list of the items I am going to pick up at each store and get the coupons ready. It is so nice to be able to go into the stores and know exactly what I am going to be getting.
I now only buy a household item if it is free or less than 50 cents.
Here is a picture of all of the items I got at CVS and Walgreens this Sunday. All of these items were free, I even ended up making $2.00 on these items this week. =)

The websites also post the sales for many grocery stores as well. Since really watching ads and coupons we spend around $20.00 a week on groceries. I have a lot of people ask we how we only spend $20.00 a week on groceries and my answer is we make everything that we can from scratch. I do not do this because we have to, I do it because I love baking and cooking and I get a high when I find out I bought $170.00 worth of stuff and only have to spend $2.00. =)
All of the sites feature many other awesome ways to save money. Check them out you won't be sorry.
I also get the allyou magazine it has lots of coupons in it as well. You can buy this magazine at Walmart or order it online.
Do you coupon? If so I would love hear how you save money. If you don't I challenge you to start this month. I think you will thank me when you are able to get all of your household items for 50 cents or less. =)
Until Next Time,
Lindsay Lee

Love saving that money
You know, posting the pictures of what you bought with coupons really brings the point home!
I am where you were a year ago- using coupons for several things we get regularly :) I need to step it up a notch- that is very motivating!
Thanks for the website links. They really do help
Jen
It's good to hear you were
It's good to hear you were motivated by this post. I love saving money and even more getting things for free. Try it out for a few weeks. You will be surprised how much you can get for free and how big of a stock pile you can have!
$20.00 grocery bill
NOw, you have to explain how you can get your weeks worth of grocery for $20. Most weeks, I can't get just the meat for the week under $20. I woud love your tips. thanks.
Not a problem
Tanya,
I would love to tell you about my grocery shopping as well as share with you my tips on saving money. =)
coupon printer
Is there a trick to get the "coupon printer" application installed on computer? I know I tried it before and could never get it to work. Thanks, Tanya
Not Sure
Hey Tanya,
I have never installed the coupon printer before. I would email Mercedes at www.commonsensewithmoney.com. I'm sure she would be happy to help you.
couponing
the best site I have ever used is www.couponmom.com. This lists the grocery stores (as well as drug stores, walmart and target) sales plus the coupons that are currently out. it started out as a local website in Atlanta suggesting grocery items that were on sale and/or had a coupon so they'd be free or very cheap so that people would donate to the local food banks, whose shelves were empty. Now the site lists stores for all over the country. the best part about it is that you don't have to go through and clip coupons, you just save the whole circular, date the front, and the list on the site tells you where to find that particular coupon. i can honestly set up my whole grocery list, check the sale items/coupons and clip them before I have to get my 3 kids out the door to school! It really doesn't take much time because you aren't sitting down clipping a bunch of coupons, filing them, forgetting you have them before they expire, etc. If you haven't checked it out yet, you owe it to yourself and your wallet to do it!!!
Thanks for the suggestion
I will have to check www.couponmom.com out. i have heard of it but have never checked it out before.
Thanks
Thank you
Hi Lindsay,
I really appreciate the mention. It makes me happy to hear that we are all helping you stretch your hard earned money. You are doing great and isn't it true that it's very little effort? there's a learning curve sure but after that it is smooth sailing.
Mercedes
Yes Mercedes, I agree that
Yes Mercedes, I agree that ever since I have found your website I don't have to spend much time at all. I just check your website, get the coupons out for the sale items and go to the store. It''s all smooth sailing after that. =)
