bringing the midwest, to the rest

The First Blog Entry

A lot of people have asked me why I have decided to start this website so I thought for my first blog entry I would let you know what inspired me to start midwesternmorsels.com. It all started when my husband came home from work one day and told me that he and a few guys at work were talking about how much I love to bake. He thought it would be cool if I made a website that was dedicated to showing others what I'd learned, and help them avoid some of the same mistakes that I had made. My husband and I talked about it for hours and threw around a bunch of ideas. What came from that conversation is Midwestern Morsels. Since that night we've been coming up with different ideas for the website, and constructing the site itself. There have been lots of late nights and early mornings, and it still has lots of work to be done, but I couldn't be happier with how it's turning out.

I plan on making many videos on baking and cooking, and I'll also be posting the recipes for the dishes that are featured in the videos. A tips and tricks section, that I like to call "Mini Morsels", is also in the works as well as a question and answer section called "Take A Bite", where you can ask me anything about baking, cooking, or life in general. If I don't know the answer then I will find out for you. A picture gallery featuring all of the items that I make in the videos will be coming down the road, and this blog is clearly how I plan on letting you know what I am up to. I will be featuring many recipes of my own, as well as some others that I've gathered from friends, family, and a million cookbooks. I'm also planning to do some special videos and recipes for all of the major holidays. Because I have a 3 month old baby I'm also planning to do a series of videos on how to make your own baby food. I am even thinking about having my 4 year old daughter help me on some of the videos that are "kid friendly" recipes. Eventually I will be doing some contests and giveaways as well.

Many people have asked me why I love to bake so much and I guess there is no certain reason. I just know if I am having a bad day, I simply start baking and I will be smiling within minutes. The other day my husband came home and I was smiling ear to ear and he asked, "Why are you so happy?" I looked at him and said, "Because I am baking." I have not gotten to do a ton of baking because I have been very busy with caring for our two kids. Having a baby around takes up a lot my time, but I love it and would not trade being a stay at home mom for anything in the world.

I hope you enjoy visiting this website as much as I love working on it. Through this blog I am going to keep you up to date on what is going on in my life, as well as relating some of the many challenges and milestones that I endure with being a stay at home mom. Thanks for checking my website out I look forward to sharing with you all I know about baking, cooking, being a mother, and being a wife!

Until Next Time,
Lindsay Lee

Your page

Great start, Linds! I will bookmark your page so I can check it for ideas! I'm an amateur baker, but love to cook when I have time.
Between you and Arend, I think Sweetwater could have its own culinary circuit!
